What’s Good Gamer?!
I’m Dr. Ryan Terao, an esport and licensed clinical psychologist and owner of PsychSensei. I specialize in working with esport athletes, coaches, and organizations to develop their competitive identities and learn how to regulate thoughts, feelings, and behaviors to better perform online and IRL. As there is no one path for success, I seek to understand my client’s life context, values, and style to support their goals and strive towards their own win conditions.
My clinical training serves as the foundation for our work together and gives us the tools to not just improve your in-game performance, but your overall mental health. By considering the complete athlete and/or team, we can create effective cognitive and behavioral strategies to manage different in game and real world factors that affect performance.
I enjoy walking along side esport athletes and developing custom strategies that enables them to get out of their head and embrace the experience of competition. I aim to develop more intentional competitors, that are able to assert control and discipline in every situation. Most importantly I train players to be cognitively flexible and utilize their critical thinking to rise above their challenges. In the fast-paced world of esports, the stronger mental wins.
Let’s get started, young grasshopper. Your PsychSensei is ready.
